It's the night before my summer vacation trip extraordinaire! Actually now its more like hours before! Its 12:30a at night, I mean in the morning. I can't sleep because my head is going crazy with everything I need to do before I leave, what I'll do while I'm there, what I'll remember doing after I come home, & how 6 weeks went oh so fast, ...I just can't help it...I think & analyze too much, exercise too much, eat too much, love too much, laugh too much, try to be considerate of others too much--- as long as you are happy oh so much...
After many months of talking, research, planning & excitement, the time has come to travel to Europe for the summer! Still can't believe this beautiful dream is real...So here's the info & plan: to travel to Andalusia, more specifically staying in Antequera, which is about 45 mins from Malaga located in the southern region of Spain; eventually, we will travel to Paris, where we will continue/end our journey. Potential other places to be traveled to will follow. Travel companions; CAndy, the cute celebrity couple name I use to refer to Corrie & Andy, which is Matt's twin sister & her husband. Also traveling with us will be their adorable children, Joe & Caroline- who happens to be my bestie. I have not forgotten about my sweet Mateo (Spanish for Matt), we will rendezvous later in the trip. Plans: Joe & Caroline get to immerse themselves in the Spanish language for a couple hrs a day with lessons, cementing what they've been learning throughout the year :-) As for any other specific plans, the world is our oyster to do fun things!
What can be expected from this trip, you ask? There will be lots of sun, swimming, various trekking adventures; let's not forget donkey taxis, whale watching, camel riding & other encounters of any other animal that will let me get close to it; eating & trying delicious food with the locals, trying to blend in with the Spaniards, shopping for interesting little knick knack treasures, & hopefully getting my first tattoo outside of the Unites States. As most of you know, the tattoo of the Spanish Flamenco dancer on my arm was inspired from a previous trip to Spain. So it'll be pretty cool for me to get tattooed while there. I also would like to take a Zumba class, learn how to cook the authentic Spanish Tortilla, which is an egg & potato omelet, take Flamenco dance lessons, look at beautiful buildings, & of course- take LOADS of pictures...
My main plan or goal of this journey, is to be me- a thirsty Elida sponge, taking in anything & everything the world has to offer in its resources of beauty, people, culture, positive energy, nature, education & whatever else it wants to throw at me. I plan on being thoughtful of my family, friends & my surroundings. I feel extremely blessed that I am a part of this tremendous opportunity with my cherished family & friends. I try not to take anything for granted regarding anything in life for it truly is a privilege, not a right, to enjoy the splendors of the world.
I am so excited that it still hasn't even completely registered that its happening, even now that its happening so soon! How soon? Well, flight leaves Charleston @3:30p & it's now 6:30a. I have been trying to rest throughout the night while writing this on & off. I awoke for the last time this morning @ 4:44a--- what a crazy number! maybe I should play the lottery! And so I'm off to get ready for the day & adventure!

Let's do this!

¡Qué tremenda vacación voy a tener!

Hasta pronto
